Lincoln rider Jules Croft has had a succesful 2011 season with top 10 finishes in the Scarborough National Road Races at Olivers Mount, in the Spring National & Cock of the North meetings as well as the International Gold Cup.
3 club meeting were also entered, the first being at the much improved new Snetterton 300 circuit in Norfolk which was used as a shakedown test on the CBR1000RR Fireblade acquired for this season.
Another derby phoenix club meeting was entered at local circuit Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire, in May, again used mainly as 'time on the' bike before the Isle of Man TT, where 2 Wins in the 1300cc class were taken, with another 1300cc class win in the July meeting & 3rd place in the feature 'John Newbold Trophy' open race.
The highlight of the season was in June with the trip over the water to the 'Road Racing Capital of the World', the Isle of Man, for a debut in the 'Worlds Greatest Road Race', the 2011 TT Races.
After achieving 4th place finishes in both the Junior & Senior races at the 2010 Manx Grand Prix, the previous year, on the infamous 37.74 mile Isle of Man TT course, averaging 118.24 mph on his R6 600 Yamaha, the change to the bigger capacity 1000cc machinery certainly 'changed' the course, but despite a reduced & delayed practice week, good progress was made ready for the first race on saturday, with the original start number of #69 being upped & changed to #42 for all 3 big bike races.(There are 80 starting competitors)
Saturdays opening 6 lap Superbike TT, resulted in a 29th place finish, 119.9mph average & a bronze replica award.
Mondays 4 lap Superstock TT gained a 28th place finish, 120.5mph average & again a bronze replica.
Fridays blue riband 6 lap Senior TT resulted in 26th place, 120.6mph average, & a third bronze TT replica.
So the target aim of 3 finishes, 3 Replica's & 120+mph, out of the 3 TT races entered were all achieved.
Jules would like to add thanks to all who helped (too many to list, you know who you are) & also those who supported (pop into the awning again next year)
Pete Haycot, Lee Walker, Daz, & the superb TT preperation & pit crew work by Adam & Justin, & added pit crew help of Dad, Nod, John, Stevie & of course fully looked after by Tracy.
For the 2012 season jules is looking to compete in mainly just selected National & International Road Races, with the world famous Isle of Man TT races planned as a highlight, as well as a planned debut at the Ulster Grand Prix, again on the Superstock Honda CBR1000RR, though if a good 600 could be sort for the TT then an entry into the 2x Supersport TT's would be persued.
